Joan nods her agreement and blows out a quiet sigh. "People have been looking, but there seems no way to test the theories, beyond slow, painful refinement of them and no way to ensure the data is good." She frowns at that, since they're part of the problem, or at least she, Annie and Auggie are. "Anyone might be lying about who they are and what they were doing before they arrived. Take John, for example. He had good reason to hide who he'd been, but did we not know him to have been Jack the Ripper--" Naturally, she had explained this to her husband who had been very much less than pleased with that choice of companions. "His appearance might look to be one thing and actually be quite another."
